Risks and uncertainties associated with laser treatment:

The net result of the laser treatment varies from person to person and it cannot be pre determined. It generally depends on the patients healing ability, his bodily reactions, and the nature of the surgery.

·    Some of the risks can be identified as follows:

·    Injuries may be caused by the ray of the laser

·    Scars

·    Pigmentation of the skin which has been treated

·    It can set off herpes virus infections (“cold sores”)

It is thus very important that you rely on experts, preferably a plastic surgeon for your laser treatments. You should have very open and frank conversation with your doctor and be completely informed about the risks involved. Let your doctor know about the medicines that you are currently consuming and make him aware of all the complications that you may be suffering from since a long time. The doctor will then do the necessary diagnosis and give you an idea about the cost of the entire surgical package. He will also let you know about the expected time for your recovery. The patient should be well aware of the fact that laser treatments are very expensive and are not covered by the health insurance companies.

Preparations for a laser treatment:

Doctors generally prescribe the routine care methods that the patient is required to follow after and before the surgery.

Lip surgery:

Lip stick lines can be successfully removed with the help of laser treatments. The lips look visibly smooth after the treatment.

Anesthesia used in laser treatment:

Local anesthesias with sedatives are usually suitable for laser treatment. For aggressive laser treatments, general anesthesia is preferred by the doctors.

Laser treatment:

·    It is generally a small surgery, taking about 11/2 hours

·    Incase your damages are deep seated then the surgery may be conducted in 2 stages

·    The laser in the process moves back and forth over the affected area. The process continues till the wrinkled or damaged skin is reached

·    The doctor after the surgery may apply medicated creams as a therapeutic measure. Some doctors even choose to bandage the area for at least the first 10 days. The area should be dressed regularly and fresh bandage should be applied after every 1 or 2 days

·    Crusts are very common after 10 days of the operation

A pinkish tinge in the skin may persist in the first 1 month. The prescribed medicines and creams by the doctor must be applied regularly. Make ups to conceal the pinkish tinge must be avoided as it tends to retard the healing procedure. While going out you must not forget to apply a sunscreen lotion with SPF 15 to protect your skin from the harmful ultra violate rays of the sun.

Enjoy the young look:

As the pinkish tinge on your face starts to fade off, you begin to experience a smoother and younger look. The doctors always insist to follow the daily care routine care to maintain the youthful glow. The surgeons with ASPS logo, are certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and are most competent for performing these surgeries.
